System Requirements - Respond®

Minimum Hardware Requirements--Local or Wide Area Network
RESPOND does not need to be installed on a dedicated server. However, if you expect to track tests, vaccines, and injuries for more than 1000 active employees, installing RESPOND on a dedicated machine with more than the minimum hardware requirements will optimize the program's speed and performance. A dedicated server machine does not necessarily need to be running a Windows server operating system. It can be any new computer that meets the requirements and is not used to run other CPU-intensive applications simultaneously.

If you plan to access this server over a wide area network (WAN), you must have a high-speed internet connection (the equivalent of a T1 line with at least 1.5 Mbps in the server-to-client direction) and adequate bandwidth to serve simultaneous database requests from all member facilities.

The Standard (LAN) Editions of AICE, Respond and/or RedBat can be installed on the same client and/or server. When installed on one server, current versions of all ICPA products must be maintained for each product to work properly. In order to access the most current releases, Annual Maintenance and Support Agreement (AMSA) subscriptions must be current for each ICPA product. With AMSA subscriptions, same platform upgrades are free.

Enterprise Editions of different ICPA products should be installed on separate servers but can be on the same wide area network.

Respond Standard Edition System Requirements
Minimum Requirements for Database Server

• Windows XP/2000/2003 or Vista (Novell is not supported)
   > Microsoft Virtual Server is an acceptable alternative
• Network card (at least 100 Mbps) with TCP/IP
• Pentium D or Core 2 Duo processor, or equivalent
• At least 1 GB RAM
• 1 GB of hard disk space for each facility that will share the RESPOND database
• CD-ROM drive

Minimum Requirements for Client PC
• Windows XP/2000/2003 or Vista
• Network card (at least 100 Mbps) with TCP/IP
• Pentium 4 processor, or better
• 512 MB RAM (1 GB for Vista)
• 100 MB hard disk space
• Minimum Screen Resolution is 1024 x 768
• CD-ROM drive

Notes—Installation on the Server
• Only one version of Respond can be run on a server. That is, there can be only one Respond data directory on the server.
• Do not install an ICPA product on the same server with another company’s product that also runs Sybase. Running any older and newer Sybase products on the same server will affect the functioning of one or both programs.

Respond Enterprise Group Database and Enterprise Multi-Database Edition System Requirements
Hardware Requirements
• Respond Enterprise Editions should be installed on a dedicated server.
• With larger Enterprise groups or when facilities are geographically dispersed, we recommend using a third party Terminal Server/Remote Desktop solution to optimize performance.

"I could talk all day about what a great program Respond is. My employer originally bought a different program. Too far over my head. Once I saw how Respond worked, I knew that was the program for me. Each update just makes it better and better. Everything is so much easier with Respond. Time is my biggest reward. I do reports for number of PPDS, Hep B, Tetanus, Rubella Titers, Rubeola, Varicella, MMRII, Tetanus, cholesterol screenings. The quality of your technical support is great. Thanks, Respond, for making my job easier!"
